Rhinoplasty is the reshaping of the nasal structures. Most people desire the bridge to be lowered and the tip to be narrowed, but everyone requires a little different procedure. The computer is very helpful to decide approximately how we want the nose to look.

The incisions are hidden inside the nostrils for most people. Sometimes we need to make scars on the skin of the nose to narrow the nostrils or to perform more complicated tip work. Because we don't remove skin, the skin slowly "tightens" over the smaller framework. This takes months to occur, so the final "look" of a nose takes time.

Surgery: Rhinoplasty requires general anesthesia if the bones of the nose need manipulation, local anesthesia if only the tip requires reshaping. The surgery takes appx. 2 hours.

Healing time: Your nose is covered with a splint for 1 week. Packing of the nostrils is only needed if the internal airway is manipulated (not very common). Walking is started immediately, exercise can be started at 10 days. Bruising under the eyes lasts for 7-10 days.

Pain level: Most people don't have too much pain with this procedure. Rank=3 Pain information

Risks: The main risk is that the nose won't look like you had envisioned. Pre-operative discussion, computer imaging, and review of other patient's photographs are the best ways to prevent this. Bleeding, infection, and airway changes are uncommon risks. Other risks. Risk information

Costs: $7,000 to $8,000 total. Cost information
